Location and Accessibility


The Stained Glass Museum is located in Ely Cathedral. It occupies a space in the south triforium on an upper level of the cathedral. Find out more about Access is by a stone spiral staircase of 40 steps from the south-west transept. For those unable to access the museum a touch screen virtual visit is available on the ground floor.

By Train: Ely is 1 hour 15 minutes by rail from London, and 15-20 minutes from Cambridge. The Stained Glass Museum is a 15 minute walk from Ely rail station. There is a taxi rank outside the station.

By Car: Ely is situated on the A10 north of Cambridge. There is a large free car park within 300 yards of the Cathedral. Parking in Ely

Opening Hours


Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10am-3.30pm
Annual Closures: Good Friday, 25 December, 26 December

Temporary Closures: Please note that the Museum is located in a working Cathedral building, and occasionally has to close for special events and services. Please check here for temporary closures, or phone in advance of your visit to avoid disappointment.

Adults: £4.50, Children under 16: Free (when accompanied by a paying adult)

Tickets to The Stained Glass Museum can be purchased at the museum. You do not need to book tickets in advance. However, if you are visiting Ely Cathedral and The Stained Glass Museum, joint tickets can be purchased in advance from Ely Cathedral see Ely Cathedral's website

Access


There is no disabled access to the Museum. The Museum is on an upper level of a Grade-I listed medieval Cathedral and entrance is via a spiral staircase of 40 steps. If you suffer from any condition for which you would need additional help going up the stairs or using our facilities, please contact the museum prior to your visit to arrange for assistance. The museum staff are always happy to support our visitors in any way that they can. In addition, we have an induction loop available at our admission desk.
