This panel is copied from a cartoon by Raphael now in the Victoria & Albert Museum. The V&A possesses a stained glass panel of the same subject, signed by William Collins, who was probably the maker of this panel. A fine example of enamel-painting on sheet glass, it is hardly distinguishable from a painting on canvas. The glass is between 1 and 2mm thick.
