This roundel is one of a pair, the companion being "Sow in Tears". They were originally part of an east window positioned above a Crucifixion scene flanked by miracles.
Nathaniel Wood Lavers (1828-1911) established a stained glass firm in 1855, the same year in which the firms Clayton & Bell and Heaton & Butler were formed. In 1858 he was joined by Francis Philip Barraud (1824-1900), and N.H. J. Westlake who became a partner in 1868. The firm continued to operate until 1921.
