Angel Musicians, 1860s
Design attributed to N.H.J. Westlake (1833-1921). Made by Lavers and Barraud.
Quatrefoils from the west window of St Michael, Queen Street, Derby.
Nathaniel Westlake (1833-1921) came under the influence of the Pre-Raphaelite movement and worked as a free-lance designer for Lavers & Barraud in the 1860s. His rich and detailed designs reflect the influence of his studies of medieval art, although his later windows became more pictorial in style. He was taken into partnership by Lavers & Barraud in 1868 and the firm continued to operate until 1930.
The west window of St Michael's contained glass transferred from the east window; these angel quatrefoils were the tracery over four lights depicting Saints Peter, Andrew, James and John designed by Henry Stacy Marks, who also worked for the firm.

Inv. No. 1983/19/5-6 Presented by Derby Diocesan Advisory Committee.
