St Catherine And St Lawrence c.1310-30
St Andrew, Woodwalton, Cambridgeshire.

The lives of the saints were popular subjects for medieval glass, the saints being accompanied by their emblems. St Catherine of Alexandria, patron saint of students, scientists, theologians and wheelwrights is shown here with the spoked wheel upon which she was tortured (the Catherine wheel) and sword with which she was put to death. The muted colours and use of greens are characteristic of fourteenth-century English glass. View St. Lawrence.
