Rasing of Lazarus & The Agony in the Garden & Christ in the house of Mary and Martha

One light shows Martha the busy housewife and her sister Mary of Bethany, the quiet thoughtful figure at the feet of Jesus. The window displays the strong, vigorous figure style and clear, bright colours associated with Heaton, Butler & Bayne. The ruby glass used in Christ's robe is particularly fine. Clement Heaton and James Butler became partners in 1855 and were joined by Bayne in 1862. The firm became one of the largest and most successful of the 19th century.
