Christ in the House of Mary and Martha, 1865
Designed by Robert Turnill Bayne (1837-1915). Made by Heaton, Butler and Bayne.
Nave window, St Andrew, Bridport, Dorset.
This window, includes Martha the busy housewife and her sister Mary of Bethany, who is the quiet thoughtful figure at the feet of Jesus.
The window displays the strong, vigorous figure style and clear, bright colours associated with Heaton, Butler and Bayne. The ruby glass used in Christ's robe is particularly fine. The firm became one of the largest and most successful of the 19th century.

Inv. No. 1979/2/2 Presented by the Diocese of Salisbury.
