Angel, 1863
Designed by J.H. Pollen (1820-1902). Made by James
Powell and Sons.
Part of rose window, Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption, Rhyl,
Clwyd.
Pollen first worked with the members of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood in 1857, when he participated in the creation of the murals in the Oxford Union Debating Chamber. Their influence on this panel is clear. Pollen was later to be involved in the Arts and Crafts movement. He designed little stained glass.
Inv. No. 1976/8/3 Purchased from demolition contractor Peter Jolliffe.
