Tracery Grotesque, c.1330-1350
From St. John the Baptist, Hadzor, Hereford and Worcester.
Tracery lights, the small openings at the top of a window, are awkward spaces to fill. Grotesque creatures, the creation of the glazier's imagination, were often used in this location. Only the head of this demon with its staring eyes and bared teeth, is medieval. The rest was created by John Hardman & Co. as part of their restoration of 1866.
Inv. No. 1976/4/7 Presented by the Diocese of Worcester.
