St Michael, 1876
Designed by Harry Wooldridge (1845-1907), made by James Powell & Sons.
Part of south aisle east window from St Michael and All Angels, Weybridge, Surrey, demolished 1974.
Harry Ellis Wooldridge began his career as studio assistant to Sir Edward Burne-Jones and then worked with Henry Holiday, the chief designer for James Powell and Sons, stained glass makers. Wooldridge worked for Powells as a freelance designer of stained glass and tile paintings for over twenty years. He was later to succeed John Ruskin as Slade Professor of Art at Oxford from 1895 to 1904. Wooldridge's work is influenced by his association with the pre-Raphaelite influences of Burne-Jones and Holiday; he is noted for his delicate use of colour, which contrasts with the strong tones of the main Gothic Revival.
